      The short version: NightToggle is 100% local. We collect no data, make no network calls, and have no telemetry. Your settings never leave your machine.
    

What NightToggle Does

NightToggle is a Windows desktop application that toggles Light and Dark mode from the system tray. It modifies Windows theme preferences (the same settings you'd change in Windows Settings > Personalization > Colors) and optionally sets wallpaper, accent color, and monitor brightness via theme presets.

Data We Collect

None.

NightToggle does not collect, transmit, store, or process any personal data. There are no analytics, no crash reporting, no usage tracking, and no advertising frameworks.

Local Storage

NightToggle stores your preferences in a local configuration file on your computer:

Settings — %AppData%\NightToggle\config.json (schedule, presets, hotkeys, preferences)
Activity log — %AppData%\NightToggle\activity.log (last 50 actions, stored locally for your reference)
Wallpaper cache — %AppData%\NightToggle\wallpapers\ (copies of wallpaper images used by presets)
License cache — %AppData%\NightToggle\license.dat (encrypted offline Pro license validation)

These files are stored only on your device and are never transmitted anywhere. If you uninstall NightToggle via the Microsoft Store, Windows automatically removes these files.

Location Data

The sunrise/sunset scheduling feature (Pro) uses the Windows Location API to determine your approximate geographic coordinates for solar time calculation. This data is:

Processed entirely on your device using an offline solar position algorithm
Stored locally in your config file (latitude and longitude only)
Never transmitted to any server, API, or third party

You can also enter coordinates manually instead of using the Location API. If location access is denied, the feature falls back to manual time entry.

Network Connections

NightToggle makes no network calls of its own. The only network interaction is the Microsoft Store license validation for Pro purchases, which is handled entirely by the Windows operating system (not by NightToggle code). NightToggle itself never opens any network connections.

Third-Party Services

NightToggle does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or data processing services. There are no SDKs, no trackers, and no embedded web views.

Children's Privacy

NightToggle does not collect any data from anyone, including children. No personal information is gathered, stored, or shared.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever change this policy, we will update this page with the new date. Given that NightToggle collects no data, we do not anticipate meaningful changes.
